Agreement for joint research in environmentally degradable plastics & Water conservation

An agreement for a joint research project involving scientists of both Japan and India was signed among M/S Nichi-In Bio Sciences Pvt Ltd, Chennai, India and Dept of Plant Biotechnology and Botany, Vivekananda College (managed by Ramakrishna Vidhyapith, Chenai) on the 21st of July 2005.

The proposed project is aimed at (i) Developing methodologies for degrading the plastics using microbes, (ii) Developing environmentally degradable plastics and (iii) Standardizing the polymer technology developed in Japan by M/S Mebiol Inc., for water conservation in India by adaptive research.

The actual interaction started almost 8 months during then the exchange of information pertaining to technology, materials and project planning including exchange visit of scientists like Dr Yoshioka took place to result in this joint research collaboration.
